The Antonym Artidote

Conceptualisation, illustration, and content

The project focuses on contraries and their coexistence. It was a part of a college project where a set of 2 contraries were given, and a series of outcomes were supposed to be curated accordingly. The theme chosen for the project was Mythology.

The set of contraries given were - Diversity - Homogeneity and Controlled- Spontaneous.

The concept of Myth and the existence of Mythology makes the idea interesting as a topic of interest. Mythology, specifically from India is fascinating with the amount of color, character, and grandeur it has associated to it and how we can relook representing the ideologies of ‘Diversity – Homogeneity’ and ‘Controlled – Spontaneous’ through communication which can either story-tell, empathize, bond and heal through art. The idea of a myth fascinates me, whilst questioning its existence can be a challenge in itself all together thus paving a way for an interesting subject to work on. This gives an idea to venture into the different genres of storytelling as visibly seen in India. This shall not only allow to intervene in the idea of storytelling, but also weave it with the idea of Diversity – Homogeneity, and Controlled – Spontaneity. Thus, making a full web of possibilities.

The project derives its name from the ideally two words- Antonyms and Artidote. While Antonyms refers to opposites, Artidote refers to space where to story-tell, empathize, bond and heal through art.

Thus the outcomes of the two sets of contraries include posters which incorporate the concept.
